Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the border from next door Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is not legal. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a generally small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent destination, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are methods around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau casino, features 150 slot machine games and 60 gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel compound that features a number of comforts on top of the casino, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 tables.
